British Open energy sponsor to deliver free health checks to squash clubs

The PSA’s latest tournament sponsor for a major event, a UK-based energy supplier,  says it will provide free energy health checks to squash clubs to assist them with sustainability and cost saving processes.

Yorkshire-based United Gas and Power has been named the Official Energy Partner (surely a tournament first in squash) for the 2026 British Open and London Classic, two of the biggest tournaments on the PSA Squash Tour calendar.

The partnership will see United Gas and Power support with the delivery of both events and receive onsite branding at both Birmingham Rep Theatre and Alexandra Palace.

PSA Chief Commercial Officer Tommy Berden said: “Not only will United Gas and Power support us in the seamless delivery of both events, they will also help us drive meaningful progress towards our sustainability ambitions. We look forward to working closely with them over the coming months.”

United Gas and Power Head of Partnerships John-Paul Allan said: “This partnership is about far more than branding presence at world-class events; it’s about creating long-term value within the sport and supporting clubs and organisations with practical sustainability and energy-saving solutions.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with PSA over the coming months and building a partnership that delivers genuine impact both on and off the court.”

London-based wealth management firm Quilter Cheviot has already been named title sponsor of the 2026 British Open for the fourth successive running at The Rep of the sport’s oldest event.

While the PSA is still missing a top tier sponsor for its world tour, the sport is still attracting financial firms to the party.

It will be interesting to see how squash can garner bigger brands ahead of its LA Olympic debut and the clout of being on the IOC programme must now be a carrot for investment.
