Central Ireland club plans state-of-the-art squash facility – with padel

A club in central Ireland has been given the green light to build a new state-of-the-art squash centre.

Athlone Squash Club will consist of three indoor courts and an outdoor padel court.

Plans were initially withdrawn last year for the club which was founded in 2019.

There is currently no other facility offering squash in the nearby vicinity. 

Club officials hope to see a revival of the sport and attract new members with the dual-sport offering. 

The sports project has been part funded by the Rural Development Programme, 2014 to 2020.
