Teenage squash sensation Nour Sherbini is used to seeing her name in headlines…now when she trains at the impressive new Sedra Compound squash centre on the north coast of Alexandria in Egypt, she’ll see her name writ large on the court walls.

They have been named after 17-year-old Nour, currently ranked 14 in the world and the first player to appear in four world junior finals and the youngest-ever British Open women’s finalist.

And she was given the superstar treatment when she officially opened the centre last week. Nour was mobbed by crowds of adoring young fans all desperate to meet their hero.

“It was a crazy day with so many people,” Nour told SquashMad. “The club has been built by the el Orouba misr Construction company and it is fantastic.

“I love the courts. They are professionally made and the idea of building new courts in a private compound on the beach to make people play squash even on their vacations is really great. I  want to say a special thanks for everyone who organised the opening and Mr Hazem el Deeb for hosting me and supporting squash at his compounds “

The whole event was organised by Nour’s current manager Omar el Sherbini and Dr Mostafa Saber from Sedra Compound.

At the closing speech,  Nour received the company award of sports from Mr el Deeb, CEO of Orouba misr company and she added: ” It’s a great honour to be here among all of you I am really happy to see more squash courts being built all over Egypt to make more people know about our amazing sport.

“When Omar came to me with the idea I thought it was really great to make squash reach more places in Egypt not just in the main Cities.

“It was also great as part of helping our Campaign to Support Women Squash and make more girls play the sport. As you can see in the photos most of them are girls which is what I was hoping to see and I am glad it happened.”
