Long-term England team-mates Nick Matthew and Daryl Selby are launching a new Lockdown Squash Show on Instagram.
The two will link up via Zoom from their respective homes in Yorkshire and Essex to interview a series of special guests each week.
Selby has already been involved in his own blog called Comments From The Couch with Australian Cam Pilley, who has recently relocated to America.
Selby said: “I am really looking forward to starting this new video show with one of the legends of squash, Nick Matthew. We are planning on doing a show every week and have some truly fantastic guests lined up, with more to be added. We will film on Zoom and aim to keep the shows to around 40-45 minutes of quality content.
“I’ve very much enjoyed doing the Comments From The Couch podcast with Cameron (and hope to do some more of this in the future) but Nick asked if I’d be up for doing a video chat show sort of thing, which sounded like something that would be very enjoyable.
“We’ll try and give an insight into a few of the personalities within squash in a lighthearted setting, apart from Bobby’s Quiz which will be as serious as a World Series Final.
“The shows will be filmed on Zoom but will be released on a mix of platforms, including YouTube, IGTV, plus in audio podcast form.
“I hope everyone can enjoy it and we hope to have the first episode out next week with two giants in the men’s professional game! Keep an eye on mine and Nick’s social channels for more info.”
The three-times world champion and British Open champion Matthew told his Instagram followers: “So unless we get a better offer in the meantime and Joe Exotic can make a live appearance, myself and @bobbythedazzle will be hosting a weekly Squash game show / chat show / talk show / webcast / video cast /podcast with special guest appearances from some of the stars of our sport.
“The name of the show will be revealed soon. Special guests to be revealed soon but we can confirm that we have a couple of crackers in week one and more lined up going forward.
“Really excited for this project with one of the most charismatic men in squash Mr. DAZZLE himself!”
Matthew is busy keeping his Academy active during the lockdown, delivering online coaching lessons to his pupils, while Selby is laying the foundations for his Dynamic 7 management agency which he will ease into full-time once he has decided to hang up his racket for good.
Having revealed a few days ago that “I have piled on a few kilos during the lockdown” we all hope that the coronavirus will not be the thing that nudges him towards that decision to call time on his playing career.
Both Matthew and Selby have already engaged with the squash community via social media during the Covid-19 lockdown, with Matthew leading some fun fitness workouts and Selby trying his hand at various trick shots involving squash balls and toilet rolls!
