Sarah-Jane Perry awarded OBE for services to squash

British squash star Sarah-Jane Perry has been awarded an OBE in the 2026 King’s New Year Honours for her services to squash.

The 35-year-old, who retired from professional squash in 2025, is recognised as a “grassroots champion and mentor” to emerging players.

Perry reached a career-high world ranking of No.5 and secured multiple titles on the PSA World Tour, while also playing a key role in England’s team successes, including a European team gold in 2025 during her final season.

The New Year Honours list in Britain includes a wide range of figures from sport, arts, public service and community leadership.

Among the sports recipients are Olympic ice-skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and athlete Paula Radcliffe.

Perry, born in Birmingham and educated at the University of Warwick, became one of England’s most prominent squash figures over a 14-year professional career.

Her influence extended beyond competition into leadership roles, including serving as a respected voice within the professional game. She joined the PSA board as PSA Women’s President as well as joint chair of the World Squash Athletes Commission.
