Squash (and Ali Farag) returns to Boston’s Symphony Hall

Ali Farag will come out of retirement in June to play a one-night event which will also see a return for squash at Boston’s Symphony Hall.

Promoter John Nimick announced a partnership with SquashBusters for the June 11 event which aims to attract 1,200 fans for the Team Egypt v Team World showdown.

Farag will partner Nour Elsherbini for Egypt while Peru’s Diego Elias will team up with American star Olivia Weaver.

The Showdown concept, now in its fifth edition, was launched at the fabled Symphony Hall  in 2010, following on from hosting the US Open at the venue in the early 2000s.

Showdown features four of the best players in the world grouped into teams of two, each with a celebrity coach.

For the June event the coaches on show will be US-based former pros Wael El Hindi and Thierry Lincou.

The men’s match and the women’s match are played to three games with aggregate games-won deciding which team wins the Sharif Khan Trophy.
