Yale Senior John Roberts will be forever remembered as the man who ended the streak: it was he who was on the court with then-undefeated Trinity and No. 2 Yale tied 4-4 Jan. 18, and he who finished of Johan Detter to clinch the Bulldogs’ historic victory.
For that epic win, and another he added against Western Ontario Friday night, the Belfast, Ireland, native has been named this week’s Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week.
Roberts is 8-2 on the season, playing predominantly at the No. 4 spot for the Elis, building on his 11-8 junior season and 9-4 record as a sophomore. Last season, he made it to the quarterfinals of the CSA consolation draw.
Roberts and the Bulldogs are back at it this afternoon when they take on Ivy League rival Brown – home of Women’s Player of the Week Erika Kohnen – before heading to Navy this weekend.
