James Willstrop finally ended his long losing run against fellow Englishman Nick Matthew by beating him in a Bundesliga fixture.
Willstrop, playing for Paderborn, beat Matthew (representing Worms) 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 13-11.
Later, Nick Tweeted: “What’s the latest recorded finish for a squash team match? 1.35am after a 7pm start has to be close.”
Peter Schmidl reported on I-love Squash:
It was the No1 string of the 1st Bundesliga play-off match between titleholders Worms and Paderborn.
Willstrop’s victory secured his team a 3-1 win which gives the 8-time champions Paderborn a perfect situation for the re-match on Sunday in Paderborn.
