World Squash inks global rating system with SquashLevels

World Squash says it has implemented a unified global rating system “to galvanise the squash community” in the lead up to squash’s Olympic debut.

World Squash and SquashLevels have inked a landmark partnership, an agreement which aims at developing a single performance measurement system for all players around the world.

“This partnership represents a major step forward in ensuring that every player – from juniors to professionals, club players to masters – has a consistent, transparent, and accurate rating that reflects its level,” a WSF release said.

“Whether competing locally or internationally, the players will have a clear, transparent measure of their playing level, fostering more competitive and structured play worldwide.

World Junior Ratings

As part of this partnership, SquashLevels has been adopted as the official provider of World Junior Ratings for World Squash. This marks a shift away from traditional rankings toward a more dynamic, inclusive system that reflects players’ current playing level based on performance, not just results in elite events.

The new ratings model captures match data from a wide range of competitions, including international tournaments, national championships, and regional events. This allows for more accurate benchmarking, fairer seeding, and greater visibility for emerging talent, particularly those with limited access to international play.

To ensure broad adoption and global coverage, World Squash will be working closely with national federations to connect domestic results into the system. As more federations come on board, the World Junior Ratings will become a consistent framework that motivates junior players, supports coach insight, and helps shape the next generation of global talent.

Raising the profile of the Masters Squash community

Masters players will benefit from a fully integrated global rating system, measuring playing levels across all age groups. This system will allow players to compare themselves internationally, improve seeding to ensure fair competition in particular at the World Squash Masters Championships.

SPIN Integration

In a major technological step forward, SquashLevels will integrate with the World Squash SPIN (Squash Personal Identification Number) system, ensuring that every player, regardless of level, has a unique squash identity. This will allow World Squash to build a comprehensive global squash database, opening up new opportunities for engagement, player development, and community growth.

This collaboration comes at a pivotal time for the sport. A standardised global rating will enhance tournament structures, create new opportunities for players, and position squash for continued growth on the international stage.
