I just naturally have a good backhand swing and I generate a lot of power from it.
Whenever I have an easy ball in the middle, my backhand goes into kill-shot mode. It’s something I really enjoy when it’s going well.
I do solo practice, which many people don’t enjoy, but you can’t get the real feel for a shot and precision without it.
It’s easier when you play alone; you’re the one hitting and you can set your own tempo. When I was young, I would have a two-hour solo session, but I still practise four times per week for an hour.
After a session I feel more comfortable with my hitting. I feel like I have a certain step when I take the shot and when the ball is at the right height.
It’s hard to say exactly what the right position is, but it comes when the ball is not too low or too high.
I know the swing is there and it feels like I don’t have to put much effort into it. When the opportunity comes along, it is easy to hit.
