Parker completes run right through from qualifying

A superb, sublime performance from George Parker, beating Patrick Rooney in straight games, saw him take the inaugural Rhiwbina Welsh Open title.

Parker’s fantastic run of form throughout the tournament continued on the final day as he powered his way to victory. His English counterpart, Rooney, could not get to grips with the consistent length of Parker’s shots and was on the back foot for most of the time.

Parker’s victory over top seed Josh Masters in the semi-final gave him the confidence to take the same approach into the final.

It was a thoroughly deserved victory but both of these stars are destined for much higher things in the game.

The final capped a tremendous week of squash at the Rhiwbina club and thanks go to Wales Squash for all their help and support, and to an army of people who operationally helped to run the event so well.
