Denmark’s Kristian Frost Olesen notched up his 10th title on the PSA World Tour when he beat Czech champion Jan Koukal in the final of the Squash Promotion Group and Heroes Open, a new PSA Challenger 5 squash event at the Modelarnia Squash and Fitness Club in Bielsko-BiaĊ‚a, Poland.

Olesen, the World No.76 from Odense, was the top seed in the first PSA tournament to be held in the Silesia of Poland. The London-born 26-year-old reached the final, the 16th of his career and his second in a row, after seeing off newly-crowned Dutch champion Sebastiaan Weenink, the No.4 seed, in the semi-finals.

Koukal, the third seed, earned his place in the 55th Tour final of his illustrious career after upsetting Richie Fallows, the No.2 seed from England, in the other semi.

Olesen was in sparkling form in the final, despatching Koukal 11-2, 11-5, 11-8 in 44 minutes in his first straight games win of the tournament.

“It was a great tournament,” said the new champion. “The organisation was beyond good. Polish squash is definitely on the rise and this tournament just proves the potential that lies in the smaller squash nations in Europe.

“For a 5k tournament, the standard was very high. I am very happy with the outcome – I played well and picked up my 10th title after 12 months without any success in numerous finals.”
