Massaro and Gaultier top PSA World Series charts
By NATHAN CLARKE
After winning a second consecutive PSA World Series title at the 2015 Qatar Classic in Doha last week, England’s Laura Massaro has opened up a comfortable lead at the top of the Women’s PSA Road To Dubai Standings, while Frenchman Gregory Gaultier maintains a slender advantage atop the Men’s standings.
Massaro followed her triumph at the Delaware Investments U.S. Open with a thrilling five-game win over Nour El Sherbini at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex to earn maximum points and establish an early lead which sees her in pole position to qualify for the PSA Dubai World Series Finals next May.
Massaro is over 100 points clear of her nearest challenger, El Sherbini, while Gaultier, who was denied back-to-back titles in Doha by World No.1 Mohamed Elshorbagy, holds a narrow lead over the 24-year-old Egyptian.
Come May 2016, only the top eight players on the standings will qualify for a coveted place at the PSA Dubai World Series Finals with every match in the PSA World Series vital in determining who gets a shot at one of the sport’s most prestigious titles.
