Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid, the 26-year-old from Giza, ended hopes of a home triumph by defeating Aamir Atlas Khan in the final of the Serena Hotels CAS International Squash Championship, PSA International 25 tournament taking place in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The top seeded World No.28 eased his way to the final without dropping a single game but was taken all the way by Khan, the current World No.94 who has ranked as high as World No.14, and was forced to come from two-games down to deny the local favourite victory in the first International level PSA tournament to take place in Pakistan since 2007.
With the likes of squash legends Jansher Khan, Qamar Zaman and Geoff Hunt amongst those watching, the crowd were treated to an intense final as Khan showed the form that saw him rise to the top 20 in the PSA rankings in 2009 to take the opening two games.
But the powerful Meguid showed his resilience to rally and forced the game into a nail-biting decider which he eventually sealed to complete and impressive 6-11, 6-11, 11-4, 11-5, 13-11 victory in just over an hour.
