Local favourite Miguel Angel Rodriguez delighted the home crowd at the XVII Abierto Colombiano de Squash Club El Nogal in Bogota, Colombia by taking out tournament favourite Simon Rösner in the semi-finals.

Rodriguez, the 28-year-old Bogota native, put in a sublime performance to record a 3-0, 11-8 11-7, 11-6 victory over the World No.11 and book his place in the final for a fifth time where he’ll be hoping to add to his title victories in 2010 and 2008.

His opponent in the final will be Egyptian Omar Mosaad, the 26-year-old from Cairo who sits one place above Rodriguez in the World Rankings at No.13, after he won a thrilling five game, 4-11, 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 11-7, 67-minute battle against compatriot Marwan Elshorbagy.

That win sees Mosaad into the final for a second consecutive year where he’ll be hoping to improve on his runner-up finish in 2013.
