The quarter-final stage of the prestigious 2016 Allam British Open descends on Hull’s Airco Arena today – and you can watch the action LIVE on SQUASHTV and Eurosport Player from noon.
The mouthwatering match-ups start with Nour El Sherbini’s clash with Amanda Sobhy followed by the all-Egyptian encounter between up-and-coming Ali Farag and the returning Ramy Ashour.
Yesterday saw defending champions Mohamed Elshorbagy and Camille Serme advance. Elshorbagy came up against former World No.1 James Willstrop in his match, looking to avenge the shock World Championship defeat he suffered to the 32-year-old in November of last year. The man from Alexandria produced a scintillating masterclass to take the match in four games – meaning that there will be no Englishmen in the quarter-final stage of the iconic tournament for the first time since 1992.
Meanwhile, Serme sealed her place in the last eight after a fine display against England’s Victoria Lust saw her set up a mouthwatering quarter-final clash with World No.1 Laura Massaro, the woman who she beat in last year’s final, after the Lancastrian downed Denmark’s Line Hansen to become the only home player left in the competition.
There were also wins for Miguel Angel Rodriguez, Marwan Elshorbagy and Karim Abdel Gawad in the Men’s draw, while Raneem El Welily and Nouran Gohar advanced in the Women’s event in an exciting day of top class squash action.
