Young guns dreaming of the big time



For many England players, the 2013 World Championship will be a first taste playing in a major tournament.

English Squash spoke to a few of them ahead of the qualifying weekend –


“I’m playing well and feeling good. If I can get through the first round, then anything can happen and to play in the main draw would be just brilliant.” – Ashley Davies
“It will be an absolutely amazing experience. It is my dream to become world champion so it’s all about going in there to learn what it’s like to play against the top guys.” – Lyell Fuller

“For anyone my age it’s where you want to be and hopefully it is just the start of things for me. With the best players in the world coming here, it really is a great opportunity to showcase something for the future.” – Ben Coleman


“For any English guy to have a home World Championships is not something we will experience too many times in your career.” – Declan James

“It is a luxury to have it in Manchester where I train and have physio support and where we are used to the environment.” – Joe Lee

“The more I think about the worlds, the more exciting it is. I have only just joined the PSA World Tour and games and tournaments like this don’t come around very often.” – George Parker

“I couldn’t describe how good it would be to get into the main draw and would be an amazing experience.” – Richie Fallows
