Sabrina ends big sister Amanda’s glory run to land national title
SABRINA SOHBY turned the form book upside down at the US Nationals when she outgunned her big sister Amanda to become the youngest ever winner of the title
The 17-year-old world ranked number 47 was ecstatic after lifting the crown in Charlottsville declaring:”I’m as shocked as you are.”
It was an amazing upset, considering the form Amanda had been in. Two days ago she landed the biggest WSA tour title of her career winning the Grantie Open in Toronto. That win came hot on the heels of the US Colleges title secured less than a week ago.
So Sabrina’s amazing 3-0 win will go down as a major upset, although her form was there to be seen in the semi finals. The Long Island kid was is mesmeric form as she took out number two seed and seven times former national champion Latasha Khan in straight games.
Julian Illingworth made in nine national titles with a 3-0 win over Todd Harrity, who had beaten reigning champion Chris Gordon in the semis.
